The Uruk Chamber Music Group was founded as an extension of the enduring influence of the Baghdad School of Music and Ballet—an institution that shaped generations of musicians who carried with them the spirit of Baghdad wherever they went—the idea for the Uruk Chamber Music Group was born as a space where these artists, scattered by geography yet united by memory, identity, and music, could come together.The group was established under the patronage of Rivers of Culture for Modern Mesopotamia Foundation, led by its founder Dr. Layth Lutfy Delaimy, who sought to sustain and create a cultural and artistic framework connecting Iraqi intellectuals and musicians in the diaspora, giving them a platform to express the beauty of contemporary Mesopotamian heritage through a universal musical language.The group’s vision is to revive classical Iraqi music with a renewed spirit, presenting musical programs that blend global masterpieces with authentic Iraqi works, weaving together collective memory and artistic innovation. Thus, Uruk has become not merely a musical ensemble, but a bridge linking past and present, nostalgia and creativity, Iraq and the world.

Zainab received her Diploma in Violin from the School of Music and Ballet in Baghdad in 1983. She has performed as a violinist with both the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra and the Amman Symphony Orchestra.
She currently works as the Librarian of the National Music Conservatory and performs with the National Conservatory Orchestra as well as the NAYA Women’s Ensemble in Jordan.

Shahla was member of the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra for several years currently she’s a leader of Alderley Edge Symphony Orchestra and Manchester Light Opera Orchestra, also she is a peripatetic music teacher.

Layth Sidiq holds a Master’s degree in Violin Performance from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute in Boston (2017). He won Second Prize at the International Jazz Violin Competition in Kraków, Poland (2018).
He currently serves as the Artistic Director of the New York Arabic Orchestra, a leading institution for contemporary and classical Arabic music. He is also a faculty member at the annual Arabic Music Retreat under the direction of Simon Shaheen, and is a part-time lecturer at New York University – Abu Dhabi.
Layth received the “Best World Artist” award at the Boston Music Awards in 2020.
يحمل شهادة الماجستير في الأداء على آلة الكمان من معهد الجاز العالمي بيركلي في بوسطن عام2017. حاصل على الجائزة الثانية في المسابقة العالمية لعازفي الجاز على الكمان في مدينة كراكوف البولندية عام 2018. يعمل حالياً مديراً فنيا لأوركسترا نيويورك العربية، المؤسسة الرائدة للموسيقى العربية المعاصرة والكلاسيكية، وهو أيضًا عضو هيئة تدريس في خلوة الموسيقى العربية السنوية تحت إشراف سيمون شاهين، حاليا محاضر غير متفرغ في جامعة نيويورك - أبو ظبي، حصل على جائزة "أفضل فنان عالمي" في حفل توزيع جوائز بوسطن الموسيقية لعام 2020.

Holds a diploma in violin from the School of Music and Ballet in Baghdad (1986). She previously worked as a member of the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra and the Baghdad Music Group, and taught violin at the School of Music and Ballet as well as at the Musique Espérance foundation in the city of Bergerac. She also performed with the Violon d’Ingres orchestra in Paris. She continues her artistic career today in Paris as a member of the Asymptote string quartet, in addition to performing with the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra in Istanbul. She gives concerts in violin duos and in solo performances accompanied by piano.
حاصلة على دبلوم في آلة الكمان من مدرسة الموسيقى والباليه في بغداد عام 1986. عملت سابقاً كعضوة في الفرقة السمفونية الوطنية العراقية وجماعة بغداد للموسيقى، كما قامت بتدريس آلة الكمان في مدرسة الموسيقى والباليه وفي مؤسسة Musique Espérance في مدينة بيرجيراك.
شاركت أيضاً في العزف مع أوركسترا Violon d’Ingres في باريس.

Holds a Diploma in Clarinet from the School of Music and Ballet in Baghdad (1984), and a PhD in Music Education (2015). He has served as both teacher and director of the School of Music and Ballet, and has performed as clarinetist and manager with the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra, the Amman Symphony Orchestra, and the Baghdad Chamber Music Group.
He was also Vice President of the International Music Council – UNESCO from 2011 to 2017.
He currently teaches Clarinet at the National Music Conservatory and serves as the Director of the Arab Academy of Music (League of Arab States).
Most recently, he was honoured at the Arab Music Festival and Conference at the Cairo Opera House (2025) in recognition of his distinguished contributions to music research.

Is a performer and composer specializing in the Joza, a traditional Iraqi bowed string instrument. He began studying music at the age of six and continued his education at the School of Music and Ballet, the Institute of Musical Studies, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
He holds a patent for the development and modification of the Joza, and has submitted research on the instrument to the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (Ministry of Planning, University of Baghdad).
Among his most notable musical works are compositions for poetry by:

Rula Jaradat holds a PhD in Musicology from the Higher Institute of Arabic Music in Cairo. She is recognized as the first female Qanun soloist and conductor in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
She teaches Qanun performance and Arabic vocal traditions at Yarmouk University (Jordan) and is the founder of the Jordanian women’s ensemble “Naya.”

An Arab vocalist of Palestinian origin, currently based in London.
She grew up in an artistic environment that shaped her musical path from the age of eight, mastering the performance of Palestinian and broader Arab traditional repertoire in its many forms.
She is the lead singer of the Al-Hanouna Popular Heritage Ensemble, where she plays a key role in preserving Palestinian identity and oral musical heritage.
She is also one of the founding members and the principal vocalist of the NAYA Women’s Ensemble in Jordan.
Her experience across these ensembles has given her voice a distinctive versatility, allowing her to perform folk, classical, Andalusian vocals (muwashahat) and traditional urban repertoire (Qudud) with equal depth.
Lina has recorded over 200 traditional melodies as part of a major project to archive Arab folk songs.
She has performed in Palestine, Jordan, Tunisia, Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, France, London, Cyprus, Germany, and the United States.
مغنية عربية من أصول فلسطينية، مقيمة في لندن. نشأت في بيئة فنية شكلت بدايتها في الغناء من عمر 8 سنوات وأتقنت أداء التراث الفلسطيني والعربي بألوانه المتعددة. و هيي المغنية الرئيسية في فرقة الحنونة للتراث الشعبي، وحارسة للهوية الفلسطينية و الموروث الشعبي .
كما انها احدد مؤسسيّ فرقة نايا النسائية الأردنية و هيي المغنيه الرئيسيه في الفرقه . تجربتها بين الفرقتين منحت صوتها تنوعًا خاصًا فهيي تجيد الغناء الشعبي، الكلاسيكي، والقدود، والموشحات. وسجّلت أكثر من 200 نغمة تراثية ضمن مشروع أرشفة الأغاني الشعبية العربيه . قدّمت عروضًا في فلسطين والأردن وتونس والعراق والجزائر والكويت والإمارات وفرنسا ولندن قبرص وألمانيا وأمريكا.

Mohammad received his Diploma in Piano from the School of Music and Ballet in Baghdad in 1979. He later obtained his Master’s degree in Piano and Conducting from the Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow, Russia, in 1989.
He has served as Conductor of the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra and the Amman Symphony Orchestra.
He is currently the Director of the National Music Conservatory (King Hussein Foundation).

Graduated from the National Regional Conservatory of Rueil-Malmaison in Paris region, where he was awarded both the Gold Medal and the Virtuosity Medal in violin performance. He shares his passion for music through his work as a violin professor at the Intercommunal Municipal Conservatory of Limeil-Brevannes. He has performed with several distinguished ensembles, including the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre Régional de Bayonne, the Orchestre de Pau–Pays de Béarn, and “Les Violons Virtuoses” under the direction of Alexandre Stajic.Today, he dedicates himself to chamber music, where he finds a rich space for creativity and artistic expression.
تخرّج جيروم لوغراند من المعهد الوطني الإقليمي للموسيقى في روايي-مالميزون (منطقة باريس)، وحاز على ميداليتَي الذهب والتميّز في العزف على الكمان. يشارك شغفه بالموسيقى من خلال عمله أستاذاً للكمان في المعهد البلدي المشترك للموسيقى في ليميل-برفان. وقد شارك بالعزف مع فرق موسيقية مرموقة مثل الأوركسترا الوطنية لكابيتول تولوز، والأوركسترا الإقليمية لبايون، وأوركسترا باو– منطقة بيرن، بالإضافة إلى فرقة "الكمانات البارعة" بقيادة ألكسندر ستاجيتش. يكرّس اليوم اهتمامه بموسيقى الصالة، حيث يجد في هذه التشكيلات فضاءً غنيّاً للإبداع والتعبير الفني.

Zaid earned his Diploma in Violin from the School of Music and Ballet in Baghdad in 1982. He previously served as First Violinist with the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra and the Baghdad Chamber Music Group.
He is currently performing with several professional classical ensembles and orchestras in France, including the Marseille Chamber Music Ensemble, Ensemble Giocoso, Orchestre Roy René, and the South Alps Orchestra. He is also a member of Mundo Inca, a tango music ensemble.
